The Occasional Solipsist

Ok, so I recognize that talking about my fascination with Doctor Who may separate me from other scifi fans as a bit of a fringer, but who cares?

New Doctor Who episodes are being aired for the first time in years and the show is far and away the best incarnation yet.

I used to watch this show all the time when I was growing up, more for the campy fun of the show than anything else. Well, Tom Baker was pretty cool, and the two Romanas were really hot, and the TARDIS was a fucking great idea, and having a K-9 would have been handy, and that cool sonic screwdriver...well I digress. But I can sum up the new series in three words: It. Kicks. Ass.

In fact, I can thank my cousin for turning me on to this show. I used to watch it with her when I was a kid at her Mom's place when my parents dumped me off there. Would've been better for me if they'd left me there. lol.

Now you want to talk about a hardcore fan - she's your girl. This girl got herself a long brown coat and knit herself an 8 foot replica of Tom Baker's famous scarf. I'm almost positive that she was in high school at the time. And not that she cared, but I can imagine she got the holy fuck razzed out of her for sporting that particular look.

Now, how many of you would have had the brass cahonies for that one?

But she thought she was cool, and now likely all those losers that made fun of her are busy bringing up the next generation of unimaginative, mindless dolts that couldn't read they're way to the exit in a burning building, so now who's laughing?

See Mary-Anne, you just have to wait 20 years and you'll be vindicated on a blog that no one will ever read. haha.

But seriously, I am so stoked about the shows that are on these days. Its like a golden age of SciFi (cancellation of Enterprise definitely notwithstanding). Between Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, The new Who, even Lost, there is some really great tv on right now. In spite of all that fucking reality tv. Speaking of mindless dolts... ah, don't get me started.

Anyway, Doctor Who Tuesdays @ 8 on CBC. Now you have no excuse, right?
