the best father's day gift I could ever ask for

Sunday, June 18, 2006
I had a really great first Father's Day today.

Superwife made me breakfast and bought me some nice presents, ostensibly from my 11 month old daughter. I got the LOST tie in book, Bad Twin, that I have been dying to read since it came out, as well as the Sting DVD Bring on the Night that was just re-released.

And those are really nice presents.

But I received the gift I got that I could put no value on driving home from Hamilton today.

Superwife and Trin were in the backseat playing by throwing the ball back and forth, and every time my wife withheld the ball from her, Trin would squeal and yell Dadda, or Dad.

Dadda.

Maybe she doesn't know for sure that Dadda isn't everything; she will point to a tree, our globe, the tv, the dog, and me, and say Dadda whilst pointing at each. But I don't care. She says Dadda, and I got to hear it on my first father's Day.

What could be a better present than that?

Thats really cool :)

I never got the joy of hearing my kids first words or see them walk for the first time. They were 3 and 5 when I came into their lives, so I missed a lot of theat. But thats why the wife and I are trying for another child.

Yeah it was about as good a present as one could get I think.

Good luck with trying for another baby TJ. Sounds like you'll have a fun houseful by the time you guys are done. ;)

So does BAD TWIN give any clues to the show?

I feel the same way about my son that you do about your daughter. It's the greatest feeling in the world, isn't it.

Bad Twin is 'fiction within fiction', which means that none of the content necessarily equates to cannon, because the content of the story makes up characters and connections within the already fictitious LOST universe.

That being said, there are some juicy bits in the book about the Hanso Foundation as well as a great deal of subtle nods to purgatory, the disconnect of being stranded, etc.

Definitely a recommended read.

And to stay on topic, it IS the greatest feeling in the world.
